The Kannawidan Festival T he Ilocos Sur Festival is commonly known as Kannawidan. It is a festival that marks the historic founding commemoration of the province during the Spanish era. It happens every February 2nd. The celebration lasts atleast a week. '' Tawid'' is where Kannawidan Ylocos gets its name. W hen translated into English, i t implies tradition, legacy, or/ and heritage. It also commemorates the province's historic founding during the Spanish era. In 2008, Kannawidan Ylocos was initially introduced during Deogracias Victor Savellano's administration. It was established to encourage respect for and preservation of the regional customs, legacy, and culture. It was also a chance to highlight regional goods, craftsmanship, and art.
